WHAT YOU DO, DOES  MAKE A DIFFERENCE !


Treat each athlete as an individual with unique needs:
  • Emphasize enjoyment and satisfaction during practice and games.
  • Provide positive encouragement to all athletes on a regular basis.
  • Support players athletic and individual development.

Talk to players about the game:
Builds confidence and self esteem.
Promote teamwork.
Promotes physical fitness.
Encourage friendship.
Help their well being.
Teach them cooperation.

Teach sportsmanship:
  • Demonstrate that winning is not the most important thing is sports, but being a good person is better.
  • Teach how to win and lose graciously.
  • Stress playing hard to win (rather than winning itself) and why it is important.
  • Install in players respect for teammates and opposing players.
  • Develop player respect for umpires and good behavior on and off the field.
  • Stress that foul or abusive language will not be tolerated under any circumstance.

Teach ethical conduct:
  • Maintain emotional control and demonstrate respect for players, officials and other coaches.
  • Show self control and self-discipline at all times.
  • Recognize the effect our behavior has on players official and coaches and spectators.
  • Be positive, courteous and considerate when dealing with others.
  • Understand the laws of the game to minimize conflicts with officials and maximize team performance.
  • Understand that respect and positive regard for others are essential for quality sports experience.

Teach motivational skills
  • Teach players self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Show acceptance.
  • React positively to mistakes.
  • Give encouragement.
  • Use a variety of positive instructional methods such as: specific encouragement, specific feedback and constructive criticism.
